Final Project
June 9, 2008
For the new media component of our term, I decided to use the resources and experiences that were readily available. Due to my early retreat from Toronto to Saskatoon to finish filming my thesis project I will be driving for several days. The entire process of planning the road trip and keeping with the directions outlined to me by Mapquest has been exhausting, nevermind the drive alone. During a recent trip to New York, I felt an odd shame in being a tourist which only could have been more obvious had I bought and wore an “I heart NY” tee shirt. Although New York has many things to offer visitors, I decided to find those small things along the journey from Toronto to Saskatoon that each town or city along the way takes pride in through which they encourage tourism.
The project will consist mainly of photographs taken on my road trip. They will be consistent in certain aspects of their content. I will either place myself in the photos in the same pose throughout, or place an object of significance in each snapshot to connect them. To reveal the final product I will map them on the Platial Mapkit widget within WordPress.

I’m excited to see this map! email me when it’s up so I can mention it on the Platial blog.
